Preston Parker

Preston Parker is the Head Band Director of Overton ISD, where he works with students in grades 4-12, along with his wife, a “beautiful redhead named Randa.” They have three children, and about 80 other band kids we would claim any day.” Preston received his BA in Music Ed. from UT Tyler (2013) and his Master’s in Composition from SFA (2019). When not teaching his talented students, he loves playing the tuba and euphonium. He also did a stint at Jacksonville High School as a Culinary Arts Teacher (2015-2018). Preston believes “that when students are trusted with high expectations, they rise to the occasion and take pride in contributing to the ensemble.” Under his direction, the 2025 band earned all “ones” in marching for the first time since 2003, and they improved from 11th place in 2023 to 4th place in 2025. His original compositions have been published by Alias Press and are used by bands across the state.
